Liz here. Sometimes writer, always happy to talk.
I’m mixed-heritage: American, Canadian, and British. I grew up in the United States and Canada, but I’ve lived in London, England since 2001. I should have a ‘mid-Atlantic’ accent by now but I still sound like a sarcastic Canuck.
I’m neurodiverse, with dyslexia and dyspraxia which means I’m very dependent on spell checks, but I can read really fast. But don’t throw me any balls, or ask me which is right and left, OK?
I also have a genetic condition called lipedema, which gives me an unbalanced shape, pain, and puffy legs and feet, I have to wear support stockings every day and look after my body, but I try not to let it get me down. Up to 11% of women have lipoedema, and it needs to be better known. I’d love it if my writing could help.
I originally trained as a journalist, but I got very distracted by coding. Since then, I’ve worked in the tech industry in Canada and the UK for 20+ years.
I’ve recently returned to my first love of writing. I like creating stories that have humour and heart for young readers. I’m represented by the fabulous Canadian literary agent Stacey Kondla at The Rights Factory
And I’m thrilled that you’re here…
